Plain-English summary: Waffles.cards sells sealed packs whose contents are real, physical trading cards selected by published odds. Every pack contains real cards you own the moment they're revealed. You can hold them in the vault, sell them back to us at the published rate, list them, or have them shipped. Odds, expected value and buyback rates are published before every purchase — what you see is what you get.
Where we are today: packs are bought and paid for, and every card you pull is a real card held in our inventory. Sections 2 and 3 spell out how purchases, buyback and shipping work.
1. What you're buying
A pack purchase is a retail purchase of physical trading cards with variable contents. The specific cards are selected at opening time from our published live inventory (see Odds & Transparency) by a seeded random process: the SHA-256 hash of the seed is recorded before any card is read, and the seed is released after the pack is dealt, so you can recompute the hash and confirm the cards you received are the cards that seed deals. That proves the deal was not altered after the commitment. It is not a claim that the seed was chosen without bias — the commitment is not published to you before purchase and you do not supply a seed of your own. Every pack contains exactly the number of cards stated, each a real, individually-owned physical card stored in our vault on your behalf. No purchase ever results in receiving nothing.
2. Real money, and what a signed-out visit is
Real-money purchases are enabled. Packs are charged in US dollars through Stripe, your balance is real credit held on your account, and every card you pull is a real card held in our vault. You must be signed in to buy or open a pack. Signed out you can browse the shop, the published odds and the public pull feed, but no pack can be bought or opened and your card is never charged.
Several things run alongside the purchase itself and these terms apply to them too: accounts (section 3), the public live-pulls feed (the cards from every opened pack are published for everyone to see), our error reporting, and the email list (section 4). What each of those collects is set out in the Privacy Policy.
3. Accounts
An account is required to buy or open a pack; browsing the shop, the odds and the public feed is not. If you create one, you agree to give a working email address, to keep your sign-in details to yourself, and to be responsible for what happens under your account. One account per person; creating multiple accounts to farm rewards, referrals or free-pack tokens is not allowed. Purchases made under your account are real purchases charged to your payment method, and the cards they deal are real cards held for you in our vault.
You may close your account at any time, yourself, from Account → Settings → Delete account — see waffles.cards/delete-account for exactly what is deleted, what is kept de-identified, and the things (cards still in your vault, an unfinished pack) that have to be settled first. If you cannot get into the account, email us and we will do it. We may suspend or close an account for the reasons in section 8 (Fair play), or if we're required to; if we do, any vaulted property is returned or paid out at fair value.
4. Email list
Before packs went on sale the app offered a dismissible popup to be notified at launch. Now that they are on sale, that popup no longer appears. The addresses given then are still held as a real list in our own database: at most one message, never sold, never shared. Email us to be removed at any time.
5. Age requirement
Waffles is intended for adults. We do not ask you to confirm an age and we do not record one. You are responsible for meeting the legal requirements that apply where you live.
You can browse the shop, the published odds and the public pull feed without an account and without giving us anything. Buying or opening a pack requires one.
6. Your cards, our vault
Revealed cards belong to you. We store them insured in our vault at no charge until you sell them back, list them, or request shipping. Shipping costs are published before you buy (see Shipping) and charged at the published rate.
To ship a card we need somewhere to ship it, so the request asks for a delivery name, address and optional phone number. We use it to address, label and track that package — nothing else, and never for marketing. When you are signed in, the address is sent to our server and stored on the shipment record, because that is what a shipping label is. If you delete your account while a parcel is still in flight, that address is erased automatically the moment the shipment closes. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
7. Buyback and listings
You may sell any vaulted card back to us instantly at the published buyback rate shown at the time of sale. Listing a card offers it for sale at your chosen price; the published platform fee applies only when it sells. Rates are always displayed before you confirm.
8. Payments and refunds
Packs are paid for at the time of purchase, in US dollars. Payments are processed by Stripe on Stripe's own hosted checkout page; card numbers never reach our servers and we never store them. Because pack contents are revealed immediately at opening, opened packs are non-refundable once revealed — the cards are yours instead. Unopened, undealt packs (for example when stock sells out before your saved pack is opened) are refunded in full automatically. Contact support for anything that looks wrong; honest mistakes get fixed.
9. Fair play
Exploiting bugs, automating purchases, interfering with the fairness process, or abusing the buyback system may result in cancelled transactions and account closure with vaulted property returned or paid out at fair value.
10. Your data
What we collect, where it lives, who can read it, how long we keep it and how to have it deleted are all set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. The short version: you can play without telling us anything, there are no analytics or ad trackers, the pull feed is deliberately public, and you can delete your account yourself at waffles.cards/delete-account — the support address below is for anyone who has lost access to their account.
11. Liability
Cards are collectibles; their market value can go up or down, and displayed market values are estimates from public pricing sources, not guarantees. To the maximum extent permitted by law our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the transaction in question.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta, Canada. Disputes are resolved in Alberta courts.
13. Changes
We may update these terms; material changes are announced in-app with the updated date above. Continued use after changes is acceptance.
